Questions you should ask your newborn photographer

One of the main questions you should ask when choosing a newborn photographer is how much experience and education they have . As a mother, I know I want my newborn in the hands of a qualified professional. Newborns are very delicate and there a key things to look for when photographing them to ensure they are comfortable. I am a mom of 2 ( soon to be 3), a nurse and I have attended multiple in person and online newborn photography workshops. I have been photographing newborns for over 5 years and learnt many tricks to keep baby sleepy, but also safe. Newborn safety is my number one priority.

Secondly, as your photographer if they have their own props or if you need to supply anything. Many experienced photographers have everything you need for your baby photo session. My studio is completely packed with different backdrops, buckets, baskets, chairs, outfits, wraps, hats, headbands, you name it. Its a true addiction and I can’t stop shopping !

And although I am mentioning this lastly, this should be one of the first questions,,, ask your photographer how far ahead they are booking. It is best to find a photographer for your baby as soon as you finish your first trimester. This is also a great time to arrange maternity photos if you are interested in them. Lots of photographers book up months in advance and it is so hard to fit people in last minute. I have such a hard time saying no to people I usually end up having no social life, lol.

Here are a few sneak peeks from baby Sadies newborn session I photographed a few weeks ago. She may have pooped on me within the first 3 minutes of meeting me, but with a smile like that, who cares <3
